Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is all about superlatives. It is the world’s largest coral reef, extending some 1,400 miles off the east coast of Australia and covering some 133,000 square miles.

Obviously, The Great Barrier Reef can’t handle 50-100% higher global warming by 2030, and who knows how badly it’ll impact the Amazon and Antarctica and Arctic permafrost and Greenland.

It was a 30-minute drive from the hotel down to Port Douglas, where we took this huge boat out to the reef. It was summer, the high season, and there were about 400 other people on board.
