DAMASCUS, Va. (WDBJ) - JD Vance returned to Damascus Monday, January 27, this time as Vice President. Vance said the purpose of his visit was to check on the cleanup from Hurricane Helene.
On Sunday Vance said in a post to X: "Tomorrow, I'll return to Damascus, VA to check on their cleanup from Hurricane Helene and we'll continue to do so till they're fully recovered." ...
Flooding also washed out about 1.5 miles of U.S. 58 east of Damascus. The Virginia Department of Transportation is working to restore that road by this fall.
