The brush fire burned on a hillside over Laguna Beach Monday afternoon, spreading up to 4.6 acres in several hours and forcing the evacuation of residents along the ridge, authorities said.
Laguna Beach police said they identified the suspect as a 13-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of felony reckless burning of forest land.
The man was a 64-year-old resident of Laguna Beach. The teenager was taken to Mission Hospital, police said. “It’s a tragic incident,” Laguna Beach police Lt. Jesse Schmidt said.
