Irradiation is the preferred method for a little under half of the global volume of devices requiring sterilization, with gamma sterilization accounting for more than 80 per cent of these volumes.

The facility will specialize in fully automated e-beam irradiation, an effective alternative to gamma and ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization for medical devices, a Sept. 10 news release said.
