The team used data from the Gallup World Poll, in which over 150,000 respondents were asked about their wellbeing and the frequency of sharing meals with people they know during the last week.
Gallup takes this poll four times a year. The recent poll, taken in August and September, showed a slight uptick in loneliness compared to previous polls that hovered around 17% or 18%.
