The troll design went up against several others, including a giant chair, and won the public vote at the Fremont Fair. The design was, in fact, based on the children’s story.

The Fremont Troll, the popular tourist ogre who lives under the Aurora Bridge, is nearly $685,000 closer to getting a home remodel thanks to the Friends of Troll's Knoll and a city grant.

Starting at 7 p.m. Oct. 31, zombie belly dancers, Titanium Sporkestra and spooky revelers will parade from the Troll to the Fremont Bridge.
