SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - It’s hard to imagine Forsyth Park without its iconic fountain, but soon it will be removed for a full restoration. City officials said work is expected to start in early June.

Savannah City Council approved a partnership with Friends of Forsyth Conservancy Inc. for Forsyth Park projects. Designs for a new gym at the Pennsylvania Avenue Resource Center (PARC) were unveiled.

And the city of Savannah plans to make a stamp on the city with the creation of its first “signature” playground, a multi-station and inclusive concept set for Daffin Park’s northwest corner.

Savannah's Forsyth Park fountain may undergo restoration, which would require temporary removal. The project, pending city council approval, aims to be completed by August 31.
