A search had been underway for the boy in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains. He was last seen about 6.30pm on Sunday walking south along Mitchell Avenue in Khancoban, south of Tumbarumba.

Some of the biggest mountains in Britain like Ben Nevis in Scotland and Snowdon in Wales used to be volcanoes. But they became extinct long ago, and haven’t been active for millions of years.
