On Monday, February 19th beginning at 7:00 pm, Evergreen Middle School students, in partnership with the Haw Creek Community Association, will lead an Asheville City Council Primary Candidate Forum.

The last day of the school year at Asheville City Schools in 2024 is June 7. Summer break in the district lasts almost three months, with school starting up again on Aug. 26.

Elementary school students will attend classes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while secondary school students will attend classes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the district’s website.

Since the 2014-15 school year, enrollment in Asheville City Schools has dropped by 600 students, Fehrman said. The district has the same number of staff despite the decrease.
