The Elk River Rail Trail is now open for walkers and bikers from in and around the community. In the future, the town of Clendenin hopes to expand the trail into surrounding towns.

The Elk River Rail Trailhead is a 52-mile trail that runs alongside the synonymous river from Gassaway to Clendenin, according to a news release from the Office of the Governor.

CLENDENIN, W.Va. — As Memorial Day launches summer activities a new boat ramp on the Elk River in Clendenin is expected to be another big draw to the northern end of Kanawha County.

On Wednesday Clendenin welcomed a new boat ramp on the banks of the Elk River. Local residents and business owners said they're excited about the new addition and what it could bring to Clendenin.
