Officials detected eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) Wednesday in a mosquito sample from Belchertown, the first time this year the deadly virus has been identified in Massachusetts. There were four human cases of EEE in Massachusetts last year, officials said. One man in New Hampshire died from the mosquito-borne disease.
