Your drive along the Bypass could be a little longer for several weeks due to construction. Starting Tuesday, there will be alternating lane closures along US-20 between US-31 and Ironwood Drive.

It’s the Highway 84 bypass project that leaders hope will improve safety. County leaders say that this is a project almost 20 years in the making.

When the bypass channel was being built, contractor Ames Construction Inc. had about 50 people working, including heavy equipment operators running earthmovers, dozers, excavators and dump trucks.
