MaryFlor Mexican Restaurant in downtown Springfield, Illinois is closing on July 20, 2025. Owner Flora Alonzo-Gomes cited slow downtown business and the end of their lease as reasons for the closure.

5th Street GEM, 221 S. Fifth St., is an event space for birthday gatherings, baby showers, holiday parties and social events in downtown. Signage for the new space went up on May 14.
