Observers in such northern Wisconsin counties as Washburn, Sawyer, Forest and Marinette report they're past peak for the season. Door County and Green Bay report peak conditions.

Washington County, home to popular fall colors destination Holy Hill, reported 30% color on Oct. 15, with an anticipated peak of the third week or the beginning of the fourth week of October.

Last year, travel writer K.C. Dermody listed Door County as one of the "20 Best Places in the U.S. for Fall Colors" in an article on national travel website Trips to Discover.

As of Oct. 3, fall foliage in Wisconsin is moving closer to peak color in some northern locations, including Land O' Lakes, Merrill and Rhinelander.
