To change an individual desktop icon, right-click the shortcut icon, select "Properties," and navigate to the "Shortcut" tab. Click "Change Icon," then browse through the available icons.

Head to the desktop and refresh it (shortcut – F5 key) to check if the Recycle Bin icon has been deleted. If not, you will need to restart your PC to see the effects of deleting the registry key.

Select the right icon and click “Open.” Click “OK” on both windows after that, and the desktop icon should change. Repeat these steps for all the desktop icons.

By default, Microsoft doesn't allow users to change the distance between desktop icons on the Windows 11 desktop, but an edit of the Windows Registry will do the trick.

Tip: If the desktop icon for the virtual desktops is missing from your taskbar, add it by right-clicking on a free space in the taskbar. Under Windows 10, select Show Task View button.
