Moss serves many purposes in the yard -- it can be ornamental or act as a ground cover. Just be sure you're getting the right type for your needs and location.

Dense Shade: Windswept Moss, Dicranum scoparium, prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil and spreads and grows 1 to 4 inches in height. It requires deep shade and will burn from direct sunlight.
