As part of the DASO’s news release announcing Parra’s appointment, the Sheriff’s Office also said that the County was seeking an “external audit” and called for a mediator to be retained.

LAS CRUCES - After 46 years of service, Detective Lee Medina of the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office is retiring. DASO reported Medina’s retirement Friday morning on its Facebook page.

DASO Sheriff Kim Stewart said on Tuesday that deputies recovered a man's body in a drainage culvert near the intersection of North Valley Drive and Tierra Del Sol Drive.

The recoveries took place throughout the county. DASO officials said their interest and effort in these cases depend not on a federal grant but close coordination with their federal partners.
