RACINE — Bethania Lutheran Church, 4120 Wright Ave., is keeping old traditions alive with a special Christmas Eve service conducted mainly in Danish at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Restoration work continues near the altar inside Ingemann Danish Lutheran Church west of Moorhead, Iowa. The church, built by Danish immigrants in 1884, has been the victim of repeated vandalism.

The village of Hutchinson was young – only 15 years old – when several families who had immigrated to this country from the Jutland area of Denmark came together to form a Danish Lutheran Church.

Ingemann Danish Lutheran Church, built in 1884, is located 4 miles west of Moorhead, Iowa. Vandals broke all but two windows in the church in December 2015.
