A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Mt. Hood and the North Oregon Cascades until 11 p.m. ODOT cameras show snow-covered roads on the passes.
Ski areas come to life as heavy snow blankets the Oregon Cascades Timberline Lodge has seen nearly two feet of fresh snow over the last couple of days, and more snow is in the forecast this week.
Portland will see low morning snow levels Friday. Those living or traveling above about 800 feet may see a snow/rain mix early in the day. The snow level will rise to 2,300 feet by the afternoon.
People traveling to the coast should expect to encounter winter driving conditions. The snow level will start around 3,000 feet before lowering towards 500 feet by late Saturday morning.
