HURRICANE, W.Va (WCHS) — Hundreds of people lined the streets of Hurricane on Friday, draped in their finest red white and blue outfits for the annual Independence Day Parade.

A satellite program that has historically been a key source of weather forecasting data will be discontinued no later than July 31, according to a message posted by NOAA.

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season got its first named storm of the year Tuesday, even though it was short-lived. The National Hurricane Center began advisories on Tropical Storm Andrea after 10 a.m.

Barry, the second named storm of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, became a tropical depression by Sunday night, when it made landfall shortly before 11 p.m. ET.

Hurricane warnings extend along Mexico's coast from Acapulco to Puerto Angel ahead of Erick's strike Thursday.
