Corson’s Inlet was built in 1946, the same year the county bought the then-private Ocean City-Longport Bridge for $720,000, which completed the Ocean Drive sequence.
The bridge is named for an inlet between the Strathmere section of Upper Township and the south end of Ocean City, which in turn is named for Corson’s family.
