Collier County has introduced a new tool to help homeowners stay ahead of storm risks. The county unveiled a new flood hazard map that constantly updates with data on risks and mitigation.

Buchanan said the A zone "is an approximate" flood zone. "It’s an area that hasn’t been studied as in depth," Buchanan said. On newer maps, the AE zone replaced zones A1 – A30.
