When I checked out Cole Park before 8 a.m. on a recent Saturday morning, every tennis and pickleball court was occupied. More than 20 people were in the pickleball queue.

Cole County then purchased another 40 acres. Landwehr said the renovated parking lot is just the latest in a series of improvements to the park.
