Clemson is aiming to settle the "Death Valley" debate when it plays host to LSU, which also lays claim to the home-stadium moniker, when the two teams square off in the season opener.
Neither team has won a title since LSU took down Clemson in January 2020. As the "Death Valley" debate continues, the real test will come when the teams officially take the field on Aug. 30.
Swinney was referring to Lonnie McMillian, the former head coach at Presbyterian College, who famously dubbed Clemson’s Memorial Stadium “Death Valley” after a 76-0 loss to the Tigers in 1945.
