Extreme heat blanketed the Chicago area with heat index readings up to 110 on Thursday. Severe storms almost moved through parts of the area, leaving damage, and more are expected this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory, which went into effect for the Chicago area at 10 a.m. Wednesday and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday.

A heat advisory is in effect across the Chicago area until Thursday evening. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s today and tomorrow, with limited chances for storms.
