A carriage horse ran wild through Central Park without its driver, sending panicked parkgoers scrambling to safety – even jumping over wire fences and into the park’s greenery – Sunday evening.

Former President Donald Trump famously called for harsh penalties against the Central Park 5, the name given to a group of Black and Latino men wrongly imprisoned for an assault in 1989.

Central Park will always be New York City’s backyard, and the Conservancy is deeply grateful for the trust that the city has placed in us to protect the Park’s legacy as a sanctuary.
