A Tornado Watch has been issued for several cities in the central US, lasting until about 8 p.m. on Sunday. FOX59 reported that a band of thunderstorms is expected to move across Illinois to Indiana with damaging winds up to 60 to 70 miles per hour.

The Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for dozens of Illinois counties such as Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, La Salle and Will. Indiana counties that are under the watch include Newton, Benton, Warren and Tippecanoe, among others.

Damage has been reported in Champaign County and several thousand people are without power in central Illinois

Powerful storms are forecast to move east after pelting the central U.S. with heavy wind and giant hailstones, causing at least five deaths and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Parts of the mid-Atlantic and the Southeast are bracing for storms that damaged buildings and whipped up tornadoes in the Midwest and Southern states.
