The ski area plans to operate through March, with Saturday, March 8 marking the last night-skiing session of the season. Next year will celebrate Cataloochee's 65th ski season in Haywood County.

Cataloochee has been around since 1961, and was the first ski area in North Carolina, when it opened. It is perhaps most famous for being the mountain that snowboarder Zeb Powell learned to ride on.
