The plans come despite moves to sell the £35 million Parkside police station in a cost-cutting exercise by force chiefs in an effort to keep the same number of officers on the front line.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We are approximately 30% through the build.” The station, projected to cost around £45 million, will replace the current Parkside Police Station.
