Mike Brown has scheduled a second interview with the New York Knicks for their head coaching vacancy and has emerged as a strong candidate for the job, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

So Brown, who hasn’t won a playoff series as a head coach since 2012, is filling big shoes. And through no fault of his own, the hiring feels like a consolation prize.

The 55-year-old compiled a 454-304 record as a head coach with the Cavaliers, Lakers and Kings, reaching the NBA Finals with the Cavs in 2006-07, and has coached in 90 playoff games.
