This would replace the two-storey brick centre built in 1966, which provides four single and one larger ward bedroom with shared sanitary facilities on the upper floor.

The development received more than 280 formal objections but one councillor suggested it would be "welcomed with open arms" in other areas. Part of the plans include building a new medical centre.
