As one of a handful of Black-owned vineyards in Napa Valley, the central California enclave that produces 4 percent of the state’s wine, Brown Estate wines makes a distinctive mark.

They acquired the 450 acres in the Chiles Valley AVA of the Napa Valley, California back in 1980, and have been making history ever since.

A Robust Education In addition to being Napa Valley’s first Black winemaker, Coleman is also the first Black woman to graduate from the University of California, Davis enology/viticulture program.
