The mosque also contains a library with more than 3,000 books about Islam and Arabic culture. A cultural center inside the space gives the local Muslim community a place to hold classes and events.

Abdul Malik, chair of Easton Jamia Mosque, said having the event inside would allow people to experience the mosque's "beauty". "We have some beautiful mosques in this city," said Mr Malik.
