Reports about a problem at Bank of America spiked around 12:45 pm ET on Downdetector, which collects data on outages. Many customers complained they could not see their account balances.

More than 20,000 people reported issues with Bank of America's online and mobile banking systems, as well as ATM services, by 12:20 p.m. EDT Wednesday, according to the reporting website Downdetector.
