US airlines cancelled flights to and from Venezuela following an FAA advisory due to escalating tensions with Maduro's regime. Several airlines, including Avianca and Iberia, halted services, citing security concerns amidst increased military activity.

Several international airlines, including Gol, Avianca, and TAP Air Portugal, have canceled flights from Venezuela following a warning from the U.S. FAA about potential hazards in the country’s airspace.

Colombian carrier Avianca has named chief operating officer Gabriel Oliva as president, effective immediately, with current CEO Frederico Pedreira planning to step down at the end of February. Oliva retains his responsibilities as COO.

Avianca has set out its leadership succession plan after the current CEO Frederico Pedreira confirmed he will step down from his role in February 2026.

The US Supreme Court declined to hear a case brought by Avianca Group International, one of Latin America’s largest airlines, over the timing of lease payment obligations under bankruptcy law.
