Artist Mihaela Noroc has made it her mission to spread that message with The Atlas of Beauty. "In my opinion, beauty means to keep alive your origins and your culture," she explains on her site.

The result is a dazzling book— The Atlas of Beauty: Women in the World in 500 Portraits— that firmly establishes Noroc as a cultural Magellan.
