Spanish officials have unveiled the "Treasure of Tomares" exhibit, a collection of 50,000 Ancient Roman coins. The collection is on display at Spain's National Archaeological Museum.

Volunteers were baffled recently when they unearthed not one but two ancient shoes at a historic British site. The discoveries were made at Magna, an Ancient Roman fort in Northumberland, in late May.

Valens was famously killed by the invading Goths at the Battle of Adrianople in what is now Turkey. "It's quite a low-value coin from towards the end of the Roman Empire in the West," Monaghan said.
