How/when did you discover Alexander Girard's work? Todd Oldham: My first experience of seeing Mr. Girard's work was at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the early 1980s.

Alexander Girard and his wife, Susan, relocated to New Mexico from Michigan in 1953 and, through many shared interests, began a decades-long friendship with O'Keeffe.

In 1937 Alexander Girard and Susan moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They lived in a small apartment while renovating a home nearby, eventually moving to this residence on Lakeland Avenue in 1944.
