KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Western Missouri is one step closer to resolving a decades-old issue of abandoned oil and gas wells that may pose a threat to human health and the environment.

The abandoned boat, Deep Thought, has had its hard top and cockpit removed. The boat's owners, Richard and Sherry Wells of Mississippi, abandoned it after running out of gas in October.
