The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced a new tournament format will hit the field just in time for the 2025 baseball season.

The ACC is changing its baseball tournament to a single-elimination format following a proposal by the league's head coaches that was supported by the athletes.

The Atlantic Coast Conference is changing how it decides its baseball champion. On Wednesday, the conference announced the tournament will be a 16-team, single-elimination tournament. The tournament will still last for six days in May.

The new championship format will continue to highlight the strength of ACC Baseball, which sent eight teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2024, including an NCAA-record tying four teams to the Men’s College World Series. Five ACC Baseball programs competed in the Super Regional round with four teams earning the right to host.
