After a four-year absence of multi-day leisure cruises, the American Queen, a 436-passenger boat built in 1995, is back on the river.

Most riverboat cruises in the U.S.A. carry 100-400 passengers, and the companies pride themselves on that. Passengers aren’t scrambling for a spot in onboard laser tag or go-kart racing.

A crest of 39.1 feet would be the second highest crest ever on Mississippi River in Alton, but it would still be 3.62 feet below the record flood of 1993.
