A tree toppled over blocking a major road in Blackburn at rush hour this morning. There were long delays for drivers in Preston New Road, just past the Tauheedul Girls’ School.

A person has been injured after a crash in Blackburn this morning. Police were called to Preston New Road, close to Tauheedul Islam Girls' High School, at around 8.20am.

A man was rushed to hospital after an assault in Blackburn in the early hours. Police were called to Preston New Road, close to the junction with Montague Street, at around 2.20am today (July 9).

Lancashire Police said the man in his 50s, whose injuries were "not thought to be life-changing or threatening", was struck and pulled down the road at about 02:20 BST on Preston New Road.
