The U.S. banned Turkey from the F-35 program during Trump’s first term after it acquired the Russian S-400 air defense system, which is designed to shoot down the stealth fighter. The ban removed Turkey’s defense industry from the F-35 supply chain and canceled an order by the Turkish air force for 100 F-35As.
