Twenty-one years after the original film, 'The Passion of the Christ' is getting an official sequel from controversial director, Mel Gibson.

Mel Gibson‘s much-delayed “The Passion of the Christ” sequel will be split into two films, with each part set to release in 2027. “The Resurrection of the Christ Part One” is slated for Good Friday, March 26,

Jim Caviezel, who starred as Jesus Christ will return alongside Monica Bellucci who starred as Mary Magdalene. Maia Morgenstern, who played Jesus' mother in The Passion of the Christ, and Francesco De Vito, who portrayed Peter, have also signed on for the sequel, per IMDb.
