Staten Island Chuck predicts early spring on Groundhog Day 2025
Staten Island Chuck, a groundhog at the Staten Island Zoo, did not see his shadow Sunday and predicted an early spring for 2025. Chuck's forecast contradicts Punxsutawney Phil, who predicted six more weeks of winter after seeing his shadow about an hour earlier at Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania.

Staten Island Chuck, the Staten Island Zoo’s famous groundhog, will take part in his annual Groundhog Day ceremony. The free event is open to the public with gates opening at 7:30 a.m. and the ceremony starting at 8 a.m. Chuck's prediction will be made at 8:30.
