As the Gifford Fire continues to spread, smoke and ash have settled across large portions of Santa Barbara County.

Gifford Fire initially started 3:44 p.m. Aug. 1 in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara County, California. It has burned 99,232 acres after being active for six days. A fire crew of 3,431 has been working on site and, as of Thursday evening, they managed to contain 15% of the fire. However, the cause is still under investigation.

The Gifford Fire was first reported Friday near the Gifford trailhead in Los Padres National Forest, around 15 miles east of Santa Maria. It quickly ballooned to more than 23,000 acres within 24 hours.
