About 1,000 protesters gathered in Salt Lake City Thursday evening for a largely peaceful demonstration in support of immigrants as national debate on the issue heats up.

On the heels of Thursday's protest against President Trump's immigration crackdown, two more Salt Lake demonstrations are set to take place Saturday and throughout the state.

Several protests are set to take place this weekend all across Utah, including cities like Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Moab and St. George.

Rallies are scheduled across the country Saturday for a nationwide day of action, including in the Wasatch Back.
