El Paso County Sheriff deputies arrested Raul Hermelindo Ayala, 47, and charged him with the theft of a Can-Am ATV from a house on Sparks Drive. The alleged theft was first reported on March 1.

A chilling murder mystery in New York that went unsolved for over two decades has finally been cracked thanks in part to a pair of determined detectives long since retired, prosecutors said.

Raul Ayala, now in his 50s, was brought before a judge Friday to face charges of first- and second-degree murder for the brutal killing of Schubert inside her North Bay Shore home in December 2003.
