PNM considering a public safety power shutoff on Thursday
Due to the extreme weather conditions and increased wildfire risk, PNM is considering a public safety shutoff in areas in New Mexico on Thursday. The areas will include the East Mountains, Santa Fe, and Las Vegas. Bernalillo County is also on standby.

Public Service Company of New Mexico has warned of potential power outages in Santa Fe and other areas of the region Thursday because of critical fire weather conditions in the forecast. Xcel Energy expects the shutoff to begin around 10 a.m. CT today and will provide updates as conditions evolve.
