NEW YORK (AP) — Nvidia and AMD agreed to share 15% of their revenues from chip sales to China with the U.S. government, a U.S. government official has confirmed.

Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices have agreed to give the U.S. government 15% of revenue from sales to China of certain advanced computer chips, a U.S. official said on Sunday, in an unusual move likely to faze American companies.

The US has sought to maintain its sovereignty in AI, citing national security concerns and financial motivations.
